Ziaire Williams: Facing 'Uncle' LeBron is 'going to be a crazy night'
Memphis Grizzlies first-round pick Ziaire Williams was teammates with Bronny James at Sierra Canyon High School and will now be playing against his father, LeBron James, in the NBA.
When asked about the prospect of facing the Los Angeles Lakers star, whom he knows as "Uncle LeBron," Williams said he hasn't fully processed it yet.
"Oh man, that's going to be a crazy night, man, for real," Williams said Friday, according to Evan Barnes of the Commercial Appeal. "That's crazy, that really just hit me right now. I'm really going to play LeBron."
Williams played with Bronny during the 2019-20 season when he was a senior and the younger James was a freshman. He was also teammates with Dwyane Wade's son Zaire.
"When I first met them, of course I was almost like, starstruck," Williams said of LeBron and Wade. "The moment you meet them, you forget honestly who they are because they're so down to earth and so humble and so laid back."
Williams is coming off a freshman campaign at Stanford when he averaged 10.7 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 2.2 assists over 20 games.
