Report: Yankees make trade offer for Rockies' Story
The New York Yankees have offered a trade to the Colorado Rockies for shortstop Trevor Story, reports Jon Heyman of MLB Network.
It is unclear who the Yankees have made available to the Rockies in a potential deal.
The Yankees were already reported to be interested in acquiring Story, but they're not alone in the pursuit. The Milwaukee Brewers are reportedly among other teams circling the slugger.
Story, 28, is a free agent at the end of the campaign and isn't having his best season at the plate. He's batting .242/.313/.425 with 12 home runs and 17 stolen bases through 85 games.
New York has primarily deployed Gleyber Torres at short this season. Torres has played 174 games at second base during his MLB career, so he could slide over to the keystone if a trade for Story comes to fruition.
