Former NBA head coach Jason Kidd is expected to be one of the top targets for the Portland Trail Blazers' bench job pending the likely offseason dismissal of Terry Stotts, sources told Yahoo Sports' Chris Haynes.

Kidd amassed a 183-190 (.491) record as an NBA head coach in parts of five seasons with the Brooklyn Nets (2013-14) and Milwaukee Bucks (2014-18). The Hall of Fame point guard has been an assistant on Frank Vogel's Los Angeles Lakers staff for the past two seasons.

The 48-year-old has also been linked to the Boston Celtics' head coaching vacancy following Brad Stevens' transition to a front-office role.

Portland has not made a public decision on Stotts' role moving forward, and the 63-year-old is under contract for one more year. But the Trail Blazers reportedly needed a deep playoff run for the veteran bench boss to continue in the role he's occupied since 2012.

Though Stotts coached Portland to its eighth straight playoff appearance this season - the longest active streak in the NBA - the Trail Blazers fell in Round 1 to the undermanned Denver Nuggets to mark their fourth first-round exit in five years. Portland went 42-30 (.583) in the regular season.
