HBO's Lakers series casts Adrien Brody as Pat Riley

Academy Award winner Adrien Brody has joined the cast of HBO's upcoming series about the "Showtime" Los Angeles Lakers.
Brody will portray former Lakers head coach and current Miami Heat president Pat Riley in the untitled series, according to Nellie Andreeva of Deadline. Riley coached the Lakers from 1981-90, guiding the team to four NBA championships.

Based on Jeff Pearlman's 2014 book "Showtime: Magic, Kareem, Riley, and the Los Angeles Lakers Dynasty of the 1980s," the HBO series will chronicle the lives of the '80s Lakers on and off the court.
The cast also features John C. Reilly as Jerry Buss, Jason Clarke as Jerry West, Quincy Isaiah as Magic Johnson, Solomon Hughes as Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, and Hadley Robinson as Jeanie Buss.
