The Texas Rangers signed right-hander Tyson Ross to a minor-league contract, the team announced Friday.
Ross wasn't invited to the team's major league camp but will participate in spring workouts with the club's minor league rehab group.
The 33-year-old opted out of the 2020 season due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The former All-Star last pitched in the majors with the Detroit Tigers in 2019 when he went 1-5 with a 6.11 ERA over seven starts. This marks Ross' second stint in Texas after registering a 7.71 ERA across 49 innings with the Rangers in 2017.
Ross owns a 44-70 career record with a 4.04 ERA and 1.36 WHIP in 904 2/3 innings with the Tigers, Rangers, San Diego Padres, Oakland Athletics, and St. Louis Cardinals.
