Arians 'wouldn't be surprised' if Brady re-signs with Bucs beyond 2021

Tom Brady is signed for one more season with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers after inking a two-year, $50-million deal with the team in March.

But with the 43-year-old leading the Bucs to their first Super Bowl appearance in 18 years, and talking about playing beyond his goal of age 45, head coach Bruce Arians can envision the star quarterback re-signing past his current deal.

"I don't have anything to do with contracts, so that would be a (general manager) Jason (Licht) question," Arians said Thursday, according to NFL.com's Kevin Patra. "I think Tom's real happy with where he's at, and I wouldn't be surprised."

The future Hall of Famer, who will turn 44 in August, said Monday he will "definitely consider" extending his career. Brady has previously said he'll consider retiring when he can no longer play at a high level.

The six-time Super Bowl champion proved he remains a top tier passer in 2020, rebounding from a poor final season with the New England Patriots to throw for the second-most touchdowns of his career (40).

Regardless of the result of Sunday's matchup with the Kansas City Chiefs, Tampa Bay - which boasts an offense stacked with weapons along with a top-10 scoring defense - is well-placed to help Brady contend for titles for the foreseeable future if he opts to re-sign.
