The Weeknd is pulling out all the stops to make his Super Bowl halftime show a memorable one.
The Weekend's manager, Wassim "Sal" Slaiby, told Billboard's Katie Bain that while Super Bowl LV organizers are covering the usual production costs, the Canadian artist is spending $7 million of his own money to "make this halftime show be what he envisioned."
The Weeknd added, "We've been really focusing on dialing in on the fans at home and making performances a cinematic experience, and we want to do that with the Super Bowl."
This will be the second Super Bowl halftime show the NFL has produced in partnership with Jay-Z's Roc Nation. Last year's show, headlined by Jennifer Lopez and Shakira, drew 104.1 million viewers.
