Trevor Ariza's return to the Houston Rockets will be very short.
Two days after reportedly acquiring him from the Portland Trail Blazers, Houston is trading the veteran forward to the Detroit Pistons alongside the No. 16 pick in Wednesday's draft for a future first-rounder, sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.
The move will free up the Rockets to use their mid-level exception in free agency.
Ariza played with the Rockets from 2014 to 2018.
The Rockets are also purchasing the Pistons' 2021 second-round pick for $6.4 million, according to Wojnarowski.
