Los Angeles Lakers center Dwight Howard is taking the high road in his long-running beef with Shaquille O'Neal.
Howard spoke admirably of O'Neal while discussing their feud on BasketballNews.com's "The Rematch" podcast, noting he would never say anything negative about the Lakers legend in public.
"I just realized that you can't please everybody," Howard said. "Everybody's not gonna be happy with you or what you've done with your life. And the way that you kill them is with kindness. Instead of going back and forth with him saying things, just stay locked in.
"Growing up watching Shaq, I was happy because he was a big man and he was killing everybody. And I still think he's probably the most dominant player to ever play the game. If I had anything negative to say about him I won't ever say that in the public eye or say that where people can hear it. Because I don't think it's necessary. He has family. He has kids. He has people who love him, and I just wasn't brought up that way."
The 34-year-old added he has "a lot of love" for O'Neal and wishes they could face each other on the court again so they could end the beef.
Howard's comments come after O'Neal appeared to criticize him last month for bragging on Instagram following the Lakers' recent championship.
