Report: Pirates' Brault generating trade interest
Multiple teams have called the Pittsburgh Pirates about potentially acquiring left-hander Steven Brault, reports Jon Morosi of MLB Network.
Brault is coming off his best season. He posted a 3.38 ERA and 1.19 WHIP with 38 strikeouts over 42 2/3 innings in 11 contests (10 starts). The 28-year-old also recorded his first complete game.
The southpaw has bounced between the starting rotation and bullpen throughout his career, so he's accustomed to a variety of roles on a pitching staff. That flexibility could be appealing to potential suitors.
Despite playing in each of the last five seasons, Brault has accrued just over three years of service time. Any team that acquires him would maintain three years of control as he enters salary arbitration. He's not slated to hit free agency until 2024.
