Report: NBA aiming to allow some fans in suites, premium seats
The NBA is aiming to open arena luxury suites at 25-50% capacity for the upcoming season depending on local regulations, sources told The Athletic's Shams Charania.
The league could also allow fans to sit courtside at a distance of 10-12 feet, according to Charania.
Several NFL cities have permitted a capped number of fans at stadiums for games this season, while others continue to bar large crowds from gathering.
NBA franchises earn substantial revenue from the leasing of luxury suites and sale of premium seating. The Golden State Warriors inquired during a recent league conference call about the feasibility of allowing high-paying fans into the Chase Center, sources told ESPN's Zach Lowe.
Although the league completed the 2019-20 season in a bubble at Walt Disney World Resort, it's been widely reported that there's little interest in recreating a full bubble environment.
The NBA and NBPA are reportedly expected to agree on a plan this week to commence the 2020-21 campaign in December.
