Report: Njoku still wants trade from Browns

Cleveland Browns tight end David Njoku still wants to be traded despite publicly rescinding his request before the season, a source told Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com.

The NFL trade deadline is Nov. 3, and Njoku is reportedly keen on finding a new home before it passes.

Njoku was relegated to second-string duties when the Browns signed Austin Hooper to a lucrative four-year contract in free agency. He played 23 snaps during a Week 6 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers, only two more than third-string rookie Harrison Bryant.

In three appearances this season, Njoku has recorded five catches for 63 yards and a touchdown. He's notched just two grabs for 13 yards since the season opener.

The Browns used a first-round pick on Njoku in 2017, selecting him 29th overall out of Miami. Cleveland held three picks in the opening round of that draft, and the club selected Myles Garrett, Jabrill Peppers, and Njoku.

Njoku was a non-factor last year after breaking his wrist and finding his way into Freddie Kitchens' doghouse. His sophomore campaign in 2018 was more promising, ending with 56 catches for 639 yards and four touchdowns.
