Former Washington Football Team quarterback Joe Theismann knows what Dak Prescott is going through following his gruesome ankle injury in Week 5, and he hopes to help Prescott in his recovery.
Theismann, who suffered a career-ending compound fracture in his right leg during a game against the New York Giants in 1985, offered advice to the Dallas Cowboys quarterback in an interview with TMZ Sports.
"First of all, listen to your doctors. They've been there, they know," Theismann said. "So, pay attention to the schedule that they put you on. And I don't have to remind him about the will that he has, I know the kind of person he is. I had a wonderful visit with him at the Super Bowl a couple years ago, root like heck for him."
Theismann is also hoping to contact Prescott directly.
"I'd love to reach out to Dak," Theismann said. "Matter fact, I put feelers out to see if it's a possibility that I might be able to just have a conversation with him and tell him, 'Man, no matter what you go through mentally, you're gonna get through this and you're gonna be okay.'"
Prescott underwent surgery Sunday night and is reportedly facing a recovery timeline of four-to-six months. The Cowboys will turn to Andy Dalton at quarterback in Prescott's absence.
