The Toronto Blue Jays have lost another hot hitter, as first baseman Rowdy Tellez has been placed on the 10-day injured list after suffering a right knee strain, the team announced Wednesday.

Tellez underwent an MRI following Tuesday's game after injuring his knee attempting to make a catch in the eighth inning. The MRI reportedly revealed a suspected tendon injury, and the slugger is expected to miss the remainder of the 2020 campaign, according to Rob Longley of the Toronto Sun.

Outfielder Billy McKinney has been recalled from the team's alternate training site in a corresponding move.

Tellez has enjoyed an excellent season, hitting .283/.346/.540 with eight home runs, five doubles, and 23 RBIs.

Montoyo expects Travis Shaw and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. to split time at first base during Tellez's absence, according to Shi Davidi of Sportsnet.

The injury is another blow to a team already dealing with a number of ailments this season. Toronto is without outfielder Teoscar Hernandez and shortstop Bo Bichette.
