Bridger Walker, the 6-year-old Wyoming boy who saved his younger sister from an attacking dog, is being recognized by the World Boxing Council for his heroic actions.

The WBC announced Bridger as its newest world champion Tuesday in an Instagram post, declaring him "the bravest man on Earth."

Bridger's aunt, Nikki Walker, confirmed the news on her Instagram account.

"It's true. Bridger was made an honorary world champion by (the WBC)," she wrote. "They told me they would send him a belt, but I didn't realize it would be THAT belt!"

Bridger's story has gone viral since his aunt recounted earlier in July how he stood between his sister and a charging dog and later led her to safety. The dog bit him several times, and he required 90 stitches as a result of his injuries.
