Edgar-Munhoz rescheduled for UFC 252
The bantamweight bout between Frankie Edgar and Pedro Munhoz has been rebooked for UFC 252 on Aug. 15, the promotion announced Saturday.
Edgar and Munhoz were slated to face off at UFC Fight Night: Kattar vs. Ige on July 15, but Munhoz tested positive for COVID-19 last week. Edgar was subsequently also removed from the card.
The former lightweight champion will be making his long-awaited bantamweight debut. "The Answer" was expected to do so against Cory Sandhagen in January but stepped up on short notice for a featherweight clash opposite Chan Sung Jung the month before. Edgar lost in the UFC Busan main event via first-round TKO.
Munhoz hasn't stepped into the Octagon since a decision loss to top contender Aljamain Sterling at UFC 238 last June.
A heavyweight title fight between champion Stipe Miocic and former titleholder Daniel Cormier will headline UFC 252, which is expected to take place at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas.
