A new study has concluded Babe Ruth could earn more than $44 million per season if he played in Major League Baseball today.

The study, conducted by Digital Element, compared the statistics of Ruth and 11 other baseball greats to modern-day equivalents to calculate what they would make in 2020 and which team they might play for.

Ruth was compared to Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Mookie Betts, whose annual salary is $27 million. The study calculated that Ruth would currently earn $44.357 million per year if he were playing for the Dodgers, with his home run percentage playing a large role in the wage.

Here are a few of the other comparisons from the study:

Willie Mays vs. Mike Trout

Based on Trout's record-breaking contract with the Los Angeles Angels and Mays' slight edge in RBIs, it's estimated that Mays would have an annual salary of around $33.5 million.

Ty Cobb vs. Cody Bellinger

Thanks to Cobb's higher number of stolen bases and hits, the study estimates he would earn just over $39 million with the Dodgers. Bellinger's current annual salary is $11.5 million.

Joe DiMaggio vs. Yoenis Cespedes

DiMaggio would earn an estimated $40 million per year as a member of the New York Mets - a huge increase from the $100,000 he made with the Yankees during the 1950 season.
