Elon Musk's underground people mover could be used for Raiders games

CAPE CANAVERAL, FL - MAY 27: Elon Musk, founder and CEO of SpaceX, participates in a press conference at the Kennedy Space Center on May 27, 2020 in Cape Canaveral, Florida. NASA astronauts Bob Behnken and Doug Hurley were scheduled to be the first people since the end of the Space Shuttle program in 2011 to be launched into space from the United States, but the launch was postponed due to bad weather.

The Las Vegas Raiders may be using Elon Musk's underground people mover to transport fans to and from games in the future.

The Boring Company - one of Musk's businesses along with Tesla, Inc. and SpaceX - recently completed construction on two tunnels located beneath the Las Vegas Convention Center, and according to Mick Akers of the Las Vegas Review-Journal, the system could eventually connect to Allegiant Stadium.

"Las Vegas has always been a town built off innovation and The Boring Company's project at the convention center is another example of that," Raiders president Marc Badain said. "If they want to extend it to the stadium, we'd be extremely supportive and think it would be great for the city and for the stadium project."

Steve Hill, CEO of the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority, said the system linking the convention center to the stadium could be completed as early as the 2021 NFL season.

"Things would have to go really well in order to make that happen. But that's probably the earliest possible time that we could get a system really connected to the stadium," he said.

The Raiders are scheduled to begin playing at Allegiant Stadium this season.
