Wimbledon to be canceled, says German Tennis Federation vice president

Wimbledon will not be held in 2020 due to concerns over the coronavirus, Dirk Hordorff, vice president of the German Tennis Federation, told Sky Sports on Monday.
Members of the All England Lawn Tennis Club will convene Wednesday to finalize the decision, Hordoff said.
"I am also involved in the bodies of the ATP and WTA. The necessary decisions have already been made there and Wimbledon will decide to cancel on Wednesday," Hordoff said. "There is no doubt about it."
Travel restrictions are currently in place in the United Kingdom, and other European countries are under lockdown to slow the spread of the coronavirus. There have been nearly 20,000 cases in the UK and more than 1,000 deaths.
Organizers said they won't stage Wimbledon behind closed doors, and because the tournament requires summer conditions to play on grass, it's unlikely it will be postponed to a later date.
It would be the first calendar year without Wimbledon since 1945.
