Report: Vikings trade Diggs to Bills for multiple draft picks

The Minnesota Vikings have agreed to trade wide receiver Stefon Diggs to the Buffalo Bills, a source told Adam Schefter of ESPN.

In return for Diggs and a 2020 seventh-round selection, the Vikings will reportedly receive Buffalo's first-round pick (No. 22 overall), the Bills' fifth- and sixth-round picks in 2020, and a 2021 fourth-rounder.

The star wideout appeared to signal his readiness for a fresh start earlier Monday, alluding to the move in a tweet before news of the deal broke:

Trade chatter surrounding Diggs became stronger in 2019 after the pass-catcher confirmed in October he was frustrated with the Vikings. He never openly requested a trade but said "there's truth to all rumors" when asked about a report that his teammates weren't sure he wanted to remain in Minnesota.

The package of draft picks represents a steep price for Buffalo to pay, but Sean McDermott's squad will add a true No. 1 receiver on an affordable contract. Diggs signed a five-year, $72-million contract extension with the Vikings in July 2018 and will earn $10.9 million in 2020.

Diggs, 26, will become the newest member of a diverse and talented crop of pass-catchers. He'll join John Brown, Cole Beasley, and Dawson Knox as ascending quarterback Josh Allen's top targets moving forward.

The former fifth-round pick led the Vikings in receptions (63), receiving yards (1,130), and touchdowns (six) last season. Diggs has topped 1,000 receiving yards in each of the last two campaigns.
