After trading their captain Sunday afternoon, the New Jersey Devils could be on the verge of dealing one of their best forwards.
The Devils have scratched forward Blake Coleman against the Columbus Blue Jackets for precautionary reasons, according to The Record's Abbey Mastracco.
New Jersey planned to hold Coleman out with trade speculation swirling around the team, reports TSN's Darren Dreger, who adds that the Boston Bruins are among many teams interested in the 28-year-old.
Coleman entered Sunday's action tied with Kyle Palmieri for the team lead with 21 goals this season, one shy of the career high he set in 2018-19 over 21 more games.
New Jersey traded defenseman Andy Greene to the New York Islanders on Sunday afternoon.
