Throughout the college basketball season, we'll highlight some of the top betting trends for the biggest games on the schedule. Here are the best angles for Tuesday's slate.
No. 5 Florida State at Virginia (PK, 115)
It shouldn't be surprising to see a top-five team like Florida State get such favorable odds in this wild college basketball campaign. Still, in road games against unranked opponents this season, top-five squads have gone 3-0 against the spread as pick 'em or better. Meanwhile, all ranked teams have gone 20-9 ATS in this spot and Virginia is 3-8 ATS at home this year.
Trend play: Florida State PK
No. 8 Villanova (-3, 146) at St. John's
St. John's has been one of the unluckiest teams in the country, per KenPom, but that hasn't kept the Red Storm from ripping off a 14-5-2 ATS record overall, which includes a 10-2-1 ATS mark at home. St. John's has also gone 8-2 to the under across its last 10 games, while Villanova is a perfect 5-0 to the under in road contests.
Trend play: St. John's +3, under 146
Pittsburgh at No. 9 Duke (-16, 138)
Pittsburgh has been frisky at times this season, but Jeff Capel's squad has lost three of its last four ATS on the road and will be in tough at his alma mater. Duke is 7-4 ATS and 10-1 straight up this season when giving at least 16 points, while all teams favored by at least 16 have won 40 of their last 41 games.
Trend play: Duke -16
No. 17 Auburn (-5, 141.5) at Ole Miss
The fall from grace has been swift for Auburn with two upset losses and a near collapse on Saturday against Iowa State. However, oddsmakers still believe in the Tigers, who are 3-8 ATS in their last 11 games as a road favorite under Bruce Pearl. Ole Miss has been struggling this season, but the team has gone 4-2 ATS as a home 'dog in two years under Kermit Davis and is due for a bounce-back performance.
Trend play: Mississippi +5
