CFP Rankings: LSU moves up to No. 1, Alabama drops out of top 4
The second edition of this season's College Football Playoff Top 25 was unveiled Tuesday with significant changes from last week's list.
LSU moved up from No. 2 with a huge win over Alabama. The Crimson Tide dropped to fifth, while Clemson and Georgia moved into the top four.
| Rank | Team | Record |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | LSU | 9-0 |
| 2 | Ohio State | 9-0 |
| 3 | Clemson | 10-0 |
| 4 | Georgia | 8-1 |
Ohio State fell from No. 1 despite another dominant performance. The Buckeyes are the first team in CFP rankings history to drop from the top spot after winning the previous week.
If the playoff started today, SEC rivals LSU and Georgia would meet in one semifinal, while undefeated powers Ohio State and Clemson clash in the other.
Georgia's placement in the top four ahead of Alabama is likely to spark controversy. The Crimson Tide's only loss is to LSU, while the Bulldogs were upset by South Carolina on Oct. 12.
| Rank | Team | Record |
|---|---|---|
| 5 | Alabama | 8-1 |
| 6 | Oregon | 8-1 |
After defeating Penn State - who placed fourth in last week's rankings - Minnesota failed to crack the top six. The Golden Gophers, however, jumped nine spots to No. 8.
Here's how the rest of the rankings shake out:

| 12 | Auburn | 7-2 |

| 16 | Notre Dame | 7-2 |
