The Miami Dolphins acquired cornerback Aqib Talib from the Los Angeles Rams, the team announced Tuesday.

The clubs are confirmed to be swapping picks. The MMQB's Albert Breer reports the Dolphins will receive a fifth-round selection in 2020 and the Rams will get a future seventh-rounder.

Miami general manager Chris Grier said the team is willing to be trade partners for clubs looking to offload contracts, reports ESPN's Cameron Wolfe.

Talib is on the IR and is owed $4.23 million for the rest of the season, according to Spotrac, which is now off the Rams' books.

The deal frees up cap space that the Rams can use to give newly acquired cornerback Jalen Ramsey an extension, Schefter adds.

Miami, for its part, continues to stockpile draft choices, adding a mid-rounder to an arsenal that already includes 19 picks over the next two seasons.

The 33-year-old Talib played in just 13 of a possible 24 regular-season games with the Rams.
