The player prop market is a hot one for bettors. While standard spread and total bets account for an entire game, individual props focus on specific matchups.
Here are five bets to consider for Week 8:
Jacoby Brissett under 234.5 passing yards
This is a pretty brutal number, but we can understand the reasoning. Both the Colts and Brissett are red-hot. They've won four of the last five, and the quarterback has comfortably flown over this number in three of the last four. But it's easy to see why Brissett, typically a game-manager, has lit it up in his recent outings: He's faced the underwhelming pass defenses of the Falcons, Raiders, Chiefs, and Texans. Sunday's game will undoubtedly be his toughest test of the season, as Indianapolis clashes with a Denver secondary that ranks sixth in yards per completion allowed and fifth in explosive pass play rate. The Broncos also have the benefit of extra rest, last playing on Thursday of Week 7.
Nick Chubb over 2.5 receptions
The vaunted Patriots defense likely has some fantasy owners questioning whether they should sit - yes, sit - receivers such as Odell Beckham Jr. and Jarvis Landry. As 12-point underdogs, the Browns will likely find themselves in plenty of passing situations. But Beckham should see a ton of star cornerback Stephon Gilmore, and New England's allowing the fewest receptions to receivers in the slot - where Landry takes roughly 62% of his snaps. So who's going to outdo his projections for Sunday?
We think it has to be Chubb, who's seen at least four targets in all but one game this season. The Patriots, meanwhile, have allowed three or more receptions to opposing running backs in six of seven.
Darren Waller over 56.5 receiving yards
Oakland-Houston should be a fun, offensively oriented matchup. We'd play over the total on Waller, who's seen 50 targets this season - 24 more than the Raiders' second-most targeted receiver. Dealing with injuries of late, the Texans' secondary has been prone to giving up big games to tight ends. Over the last three contests, Houston's allowed at least 56 yards per game to that position on 17 total receptions. If this game follows the script and becomes a shootout, there should be plenty of receiving props going over the total. We like Waller's number best.
Daniel Jones over 244.5 passing yards
Jones has only gone over this number once this season, but it's important to understand why he's struggled over the last few weeks. After erupting for 336 yards in his debut against the Buccaneers, he didn't need to throw the ball all that much in a 24-3 win over the Redskins. Still, he posted a solid stat line to the tune of 225 yards on 23-of-31 passes. But then came tough matchups against the Vikings and Patriots, who held the rookie to a combined 343 yards through the air. Last weekend's affair against the Cardinals would have been a perfect get-right game - had it not been for the downpour in East Rutherford, New Jersey. Playing under a dome against a Lions defense missing Darius Slay (injury) and Quandre Diggs (trade), Jones is poised for a huge game.
LeSean McCoy over 53.5 rushing yards
McCoy's split time in the backfield this season, but he's starting to emerge as the primary option. With Patrick Mahomes out and Matt Moore in, expect Kansas City's passing game to take something of a hit, and rightly so: The Packers' defense runs a ton of dime formations and is allowing close to 5 yards per carry this season. It seems unlikely Chiefs head coach Andy Reid will want to engage Aaron Rodgers in a shootout sans Mahomes, meaning Kansas City should be utilizing the ground game early and often.
