Rantanen week-to-week with reported leg injury
Colorado Avalanche star Mikko Rantanen has been deemed week-to-week with the injury he suffered Monday against the St. Louis Blues, head coach Jared Bednar said Wednesday.
The top-line winger sustained the injury - which Bednar classified as a lower-body ailment - when his skate blade got stuck in the ice, causing his leg to twist. After the game, The Denver Post's Mike Chambers reported it as a leg injury.
On Wednesday, the bench boss told reporters, including CBS Denver's Michael Spencer, that he'd know more about Rantanen's status by early next week. He added that the Avalanche don't expect the timetable to be four-to-six weeks, but that they also don't want to rush the forward back.
Rantanen has produced five goals and 12 points through the first nine games of 2019-20.
