Mayfield upset with 'pretty bad' officiating in loss to Seahawks

Baker Mayfield wasn't pleased with the refereeing on Sunday during the Cleveland Browns' narrow loss to the Seattle Seahawks.

The two teams drew a whopping 19 accepted penalties combined, 10 of which went against the Browns. One of those flags came on a questionable blindside block call on Jarvis Landry, killing a third-quarter drive.

"I will probably get fined for saying this, but it was pretty bad today," Mayfield said of the officiating. "The guy is squared up with him, running at him and he is lowering his head into Jarvis. What is (Landry) supposed to do? Avoid him? This is not bull fighting. I don't know. It ticks me off."

In the fourth quarter, Mayfield was irked when officials didn't overturn a call and award Landry a touchdown after a Browns challenge. Instead, they upheld a ruling that Landry fumbled the ball through the end zone before crossing the goal line.

The Browns did manage to score a touchdown moments later, as a Seahawks penalty for too many men on the field prolonged Cleveland's drive.

"It was definitely one of the angles on there showed that he scored, but we wound up scoring so ultimately we overcame that one," Mayfield said. "There were a few more that we couldn't."

The Browns lost 32-28 as flags and three Mayfield interceptions derailed their afternoon, falling to 2-4 before a bye week.
