Week 4 player prop bets: Fade DeAndre Hopkins vs. Panthers

The player prop market is a hot one for bettors. While standard spread and total bets account for an entire game, individual props focus on specific matchups.

Here are five bets to consider for Week 4:

DeAndre Hopkins under 81.5 receiving yards

It might be difficult to fathom, but the Panthers can actually defend the pass this season. Their 166.3 yards allowed through the air per game ranks second, while Carolina's 7.2 yards per completion leads the league.

That's pretty good considering this team has faced the Rams, Buccaneers, and a pass-heavy Cardinals offense. Carolina has been able to lock up opposing star receivers, putting Houston's Hopkins in a sub-optimal spot on Sunday. The Panthers haven't allowed more than 61 yards to a team's No. 1 receiver all season.

Consequently, Will Fuller should produce in the slot away from the Panthers' top cornerbacks.

Will Dissly over 43.5 receiving yards

Three matchups should get a consistent look every weekend: Deep threats against the Raiders, slot receivers against the Steelers (more on this Monday), and tight ends against the Cardinals. Arizona can't cover that position to save its life, and the team has already allowed five touchdowns to tight ends over three games this season.

Blindly playing the over on tight end receiving yards against the Cardinals has led to home runs, and the Seahawks' Will Dissly is next up this week. Detroit's T.J. Hockenson went off for six catches, 131 yards, and one touchdown in Week 1. Baltimore's Mark Andrews recorded 112 yards on eight grabs with a score in Week 2. And Carolina's Greg Olson caught a pair of touchdown passes last weekend during a six-catch, 75-yard performance.

Playing the over on Dissly's receiving yards in this spot is automatic, and it should make you comfortable that he's third on Seattle in targets this season.

Jared Goff over 274.5 passing yards

Goff was fortunate his team won against the Browns last Sunday night, because he didn't play well in Cleveland. He completed 63.2% of his passes for 268 yards, two touchdowns, and a pair of picks in a pretty hostile environment.

We should give Goff some benefit of the doubt here, as he's faced some tough matchups: The Panthers in the opener, New Orleans in Week 2, and last Sunday on the road, albeit against a banged-up Browns secondary.

But he should enjoy his coming-out party this Sunday at home against a Tampa Bay secondary that Giants rookie Daniel Jones just dominated in Week 3.

Christian McCaffrey over 79.5 rushing yards

How do you get a second-year quarterback comfortable during the final leg of back-to-back road games? Hand the ball off to your stud running back, obviously.

Carolina's Kyle Allen lit it up during his first start this season in Week 3, torching the Cardinals with four touchdown passes. Not to be outdone, McCaffrey toted the rock 24 times while registering 153 rushing yards and a touchdown on the ground.

I love the third-year back's Week 4 matchup against a Texans defense allowing 5.4 yards per carry (30th).

Derrick Henry under 10.5 receiving yards

Henry took a screen pass 75 yards to the house during the Titans' opener. Outside of that, he's been essentially non-existent as a pass-catcher, snatching just three other passes for 13 yards. Quarterback Marcus Mariota has targeted his starting running back just seven times through three games.

Henry's matchup isn't a great one against the Falcons in Week 4, at least from a receiving perspective. Atlanta has allowed just 71 receiving yards on 13 catches to opposing running backs this season.
