Report: Nets very unlikely to add Melo

Despite a late August report that Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving were pushing to add Carmelo Anthony to the Brooklyn Nets, the team is very unlikely to do so, league sources told The Athletic's Shams Charania.

The Nets are reportedly leaning toward adding a lower-profile player such as 31-year-old Lance Thomas or 29-year-old C.J. Williams to their training camp roster.

Anthony, a 10-time All-Star and unquestionable future Hall of Famer, has effectively been without an NBA home since a 10-game stint with the Houston Rockets early last season.

After Anthony spent most of the campaign on the Rockets' roster but absent from the team's day-to-day proceedings, Houston flipped his contract to the Chicago Bulls in January. He was waived Feb. 1 without playing a single game for the Bulls.

The 35-year-old's most recent full season came in 2017-18 with the Oklahoma City Thunder. He averaged 16.2 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 1.3 assists over 78 appearances while shooting 35.7% on threes.
