The Philadelphia 76ers and Ben Simmons' agent Rich Paul have started contract extension talks, sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

Simmons is eligible for a max rookie scale extension beginning in 2020 that would be worth up to 25 percent of the Sixers' salary cap. The team reportedly said goodbye to Jimmy Butler on Sunday, yet re-signed free-agent forward Tobias Harris.

The soon-to-be 23-year-old is one of the NBA's top playmakers but has yet to find his shooting touch from 10 feet out after two NBA seasons. He's attempted just 17 shots from beyond the arc in 160 games.
