Babies named Giannis increased 135 percent in 2018

The name "Giannis" is surging in popularity in the United States, presumably thanks to Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo.

Baby-name data released by the U.S. Social Security Administration last month shows that the number of Giannises increased by 135 percent in 2018, and is up 662 percent since 2016, according to Tom Schad of USA TODAY.

There were 61 newborns in the U.S. with the name last year, including five in Wisconsin.

"Kyrie" has also become a popular name, increasing a whopping 5,128 percent over the past 10 years. The number of babies named "LeBron," meanwhile, has declined, with only 32 born in 2018.
