It didn't take Johnny Manziel long to get tired of being called John.

The 2012 Heisman Trophy winner announced in April that he was "turning over the page" and changing his name to John Manziel following stints with the CFL and Alliance of American Football. As it turns out, the change only lasted a few days.

"Everywhere that I went for the next four or five days, people would come up to me and apologize to me for calling me Johnny," Manziel told "The Dan Patrick Show" on Monday. "And it took me about four or five days for it to get really, really old being called John and I transitioned back very, very quickly ... Johnny fits me a lot better than John did for sure."

Manziel also noted during the interview that he's been keeping himself busy and adding "whatever competitive edge I can still get without being in the NFL."

The free-agent quarterback has expressed interest in playing for Houston's XFL team, which would reunite him with June Jones, his former CFL coach.
