Athletics select Clemson star Logan Davidson No. 29 overall

With the 29th pick in the 2019 MLB amateur draft, the Oakland Athletics selected Logan Davidson, a shortstop out of Clemson.

Davidson would likely have been the first shortstop drafted if he had performed better in the wooden-bat Cape Cod League, where he posted an underwhelming .570 OPS over two summers.

Still, Davidson has many tools, including plus speed and good range at shortstop, and he's been deemed one of the best athletes on the board.
