With OTAs quickly approaching, the Philadelphia Eagles still aren't certain of the status of Carson Wentz and his injured back.

Speaking to reporters Friday, Eagles head coach Doug Pederson said he's encouraged by Wentz's progress, but wouldn't disclose whether his quarterback will be cleared for a full return on May 21, according to Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer.

Wentz stated in April that he expects to be fully recovered from his stress fracture in time for organized activities, but didn't want to rush the process.

The fourth-year passer missed the final three games of the 2018 regular season and the Eagles' two playoff contests after being shut down.

Wentz's last two seasons have been derailed by injuries, as an ACL tear prematurely ended his 2017 campaign. The former No. 2 overall pick is confident he'll be able to end concerns about his durability by staying on the field in 2019.
