Former Michigan defensive lineman Rashan Gary had his shoulder flagged for a labral tear during medical evaluations leading up to Thursday's NFL draft, sources told NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

Gary suffered the ailment in college, but most teams believe he'll be able to play his rookie year and possibly have surgery afterward, Rapoport adds. However, the injury will likely have to be managed.

One of the top defensive prospects in this year's class, Gary is fully expected to be a first-round selection Thursday and could even be selected in the top ten.

The versatile defender missed time during his final year with the Wolverines with an ailing shoulder but didn't go under the knife.

Gary recorded 3.5 sacks and 6.5 tackles for a loss in nine games this past season. He's received first-round buzz throughout the offseason due in large part to his high-end athleticism and untapped potential.
