The Memphis Grizzlies are in "strong talks" about trading Marc Gasol to the Charlotte Hornets, league sources told The Athletic's Shams Charania.

The two sides are reportedly discussing the framework of a deal, and how Charlotte could match salary for the $24.1 million Gasol is owed this season.

Gasol has been with the Grizzlies since entering the Association in 2008, and he's the franchise's all-time leader in points scored, minutes played, rebounds, and rejections.

It was recently reported that Memphis began entertaining trade offers for both Gasol and veteran point guard Mike Conley. The two are viewed as the faces of the Grizzlies' grit-and-grind era, but the team is second last in the crowded Western Conference with a 21-33 record.

The 34-year-old center won't be in uniform on Tuesday night when Memphis hosts the visiting Minnesota Timberwolves at FedExForum. He's averaging 15.7 points on 44.4 percent shooting, 8.6 rebounds, 4.7 assists, and 1.2 rejections across 53 appearances and can potentially enter unrestricted free agency this summer should he turn down his $25.5-million player option.
