The Carolina Panthers believe Cam Newton may be ready for training camp after undergoing arthroscopic shoulder surgery, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Newton described his throwing arm as "good" and "better than I thought it would be," on 680 The Fan in Atlanta this past week.
The surgery marks Newton's second shoulder procedure in the last three offseasons.
The three-time Pro Bowler sat out the final two games of the season with the Panthers all but eliminated from playoff contention. He threw for 3,395 yards, 24 touchdowns, and 13 interceptions while adding 488 yards and four touchdowns on the ground.
Carolina started the campaign 6-2 but went 1-7 in its final eight games.
