Report: Pelicans GM 'not picking up his phone' on Davis calls
Just because Anthony Davis and his agent Rich Paul wished to force the New Orleans Pelicans' hands by requesting a trade, it doesn't mean the front office has to play ball.
Despite reports that multiple teams plan to reach out to discuss a potential deal for the franchise player, longtime Pelicans general manager Dell Demps is "not picking up his phone," a source told ESPN's Dave McMenamin.
The Los Angeles Lakers, Boston Celtics, and New York Knicks are among the teams reportedly linked to Davis. The five-time All-Star is thought to have his sights set on joining the Lakers, with his camp reportedly expected to make it known that he won't sign an extension if acquired by any other team.
The Pelicans previously stated they would approach any potential trade talks on their own timeline, suggesting that Davis could remain with the team beyond the Feb. 7 trade deadline.
