The Houston Rockets are aggressively pursuing a deal for exiled forward Carmelo Anthony to clear a roster spot by Monday for big man Kenneth Faried, sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

The Rockets don't intend on waiving Anthony and will likely waive recently signed James Nunnally from his 10-day contract, Wojnarowski reports.

Anthony has been away from the Rockets since Nov. 8 after appearing in just 10 contests. The 10-time All-Star is reportedly expected to find his next destination before the Feb. 7 trade deadline.

The Brooklyn Nets announced they officially waived Faried on Saturday.

The 29-year-old forward is on an expiring deal worth $13.8 million and has appeared in 12 games during his lone season with Brooklyn. He will reportedly sign for the veteran's minimum with the Rockets.

Houston is currently lacking size with center Clint Capela set to miss four-to-six weeks after undergoing thumb surgery on Thursday. Faried will immediately add a high-energy rebounder for a team that is starting 6-foot-6 P.J. Tucker at center.
