Travis Scott reportedly consulted with Colin Kaepernick amid pressure to back out of the Super Bowl LIII halftime show in support of the former NFL quarterback, according to Variety's Jem Aswad.
The rapper "had at least one phone conversation" with Kaepernick before agreeing to join Maroon 5 in the show. While the two didn't necessarily agree, they did come away from the conversation "with mutual respect and understanding," a source close to Scott told Aswad.
In a statement released earlier this week, Scott said he confirmed his performance after the NFL agreed to partner with him on a $500,000 donation to Dream Corps, a non-profit organization that advocates for social justice.
