Maroon 5 was recently named the biggest musical act of 2018 based on U.S. radio plays, according to Nielsen Music, via Billboard.
The pop-rock act was reportedly having trouble finding co-performers for the halftime show because many fellow artists did not want to associate with the NFL based on its response to Colin Kaepernick's protests against police brutality.
Super Bowl LIII will be played on Feb. 3 in Atlanta, which is home to a hotbed of hip-hop artists.
