Report: Machado informs teams he won't sign until new year
Those anticipating news of Manny Machado's multi-million dollar contract will have to wait until 2019.
The superstar free-agent has notified the Chicago White Sox, New York Yankees, and Philadelphia Phillies that his decision will not come until the new year, according to Jon Heyman of Fancred Sports.
Machado, 26, recently met with the three clubs that are considered to be the finalists for his services.
Considered the top free agent this winter alongside superstar outfielder Bryce Harper, Machado is expected to sign a deal in excess of $200 million.
The four-time All-Star and two-time Gold Glove winner had the best season of his career at the plate while transitioning back to his natural position of shortstop in 2018. Machado authored a .297/.367/.538 slash line with 37 home runs and 14 stolen bases while playing 162 games between the Baltimore Orioles and Los Angeles Dodgers.
