It doesn't sound like Fred will be following Jose Mourinho out of Manchester United.

Despite playing just over 500 minutes of Premier League action in four months, Fred's agent Gilberto Silva insists his client isn't looking to cut short his Old Trafford career before it even gets into gear.

"The fact that he is not playing makes him anxious, but what I say to him is that he must keep working hard on a daily basis, he should be patient because the club is going through a delicate moment," Silva, a former Arsenal midfielder, told The Telegraph's Caio Carrieri.

"Many things have happened to him in six months. A new lifestyle, a different league, and a historic club with the grandeur of United that are going under a lot of pressure. Perhaps this pressure impacts on him as well. In spite all of that, he sees everything as a learning process.

"But there is no chance of him leaving United. He has a five-year contract. It is not because the first six months were not good enough that he is willing to leave - or even after one year. Obviously, when you don’t play too much it is worrying because you want to show your quality. Although from the outside view it seems there is tension regarding him not playing that much, his work on a daily basis has been good."

The Brazilian midfielder was one of Mourinho's final signings as United boss when the Red Devils reportedly paid an eye-watering £52 million to Shakhtar Donetsk for his services.

Fred's price tag hasn't matched his contributions on the pitch. He has appeared in just one league game since early November - a 17-minute cameo against relegation strugglers Fulham.

The 25-year-old will be desperate for a turnaround under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's interim rule. His lack of playing time for United has seen him lose his place in the Brazil squad - he has not featured in any of his country's last three games after playing at least 45 minutes in the previous three.
