Mets in touch with Pollock's agent

The New York Mets are looking to free agency to bolster their outfield and have been in touch with A.J. Pollock's agent.

The team sees Pollock as a good fit on their roster and aims to continue pursuing him, general manager Brodie Van Wagenen told Jim Bowden of The Athletic.

The oft-injured Pollock batted .257/.316/.484 with a career-high 21 home runs in 113 games last season with the Arizona Diamondbacks.

In late November, it was reported that Pollock was seeking a deal in the five-year, $80-million range - similar to what Lorenzo Cain signed last offseason with the Milwaukee Brewers.

Outfield appears like it needs to be an area of interest for the Mets, as the team currently projects to have Brandon Nimmo, Michael Conforto, and Juan Lagares in place heading into 2019. Veteran left-fielder Yoenis Cespedes is questionable for the first half of the season after undergoing heel surgery.

The Mets and rookie GM Van Wagenen have been busy this offseason. The team recently acquired second baseman Robinson Cano and closer Edwin Diaz from the Seattle Mariners. They've also been linked to trade talks with the Miami Marlins for catcher J.T. Realmuto.
