Report: Kingsbury vetting NFL and college offers despite USC rumors

Michael C. Johnson-USA TODAY Sports

Kliff Kingsbury, the offensive mastermind who was fired by Texas Tech after six years as head coach, is vetting NFL and college offers, a source close to him told NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

The report comes amid rumors that Kingsbury has agreed to become Clay Helton's offensive coordinator at USC, which his agent, Erik Burkhardt, denied.

"It's premature to say that any decision has been made," Burkhardt told The Athletic's Bruce Feldman.

Kingsbury is believed to be a hot commodity due to his proven ability to develop quarterbacks and coordinate prolific offenses. He coached NFL pivots Baker Mayfield, Davis Webb, and Patrick Mahomes at Texas Tech, and was Johnny Manziel's offensive coordinator during his Heisman Trophy season at Texas A&M.
