Boca Juniors star Carlos Tevez said CONMEBOL tried to force his team to play in Saturday's Copa Libertadores finale, even after a bus attack reportedly left several players injured.

"We're in no state," Tevez said, according to Reuters correspondent Andrew Downie. "They are forcing us to play the game."

Teammate Fernando Gago added, according to The Independent's Miguel Delaney, "The presidents of CONMEBOL and FIFA are who want us to play."

The match was eventually pushed back to Sunday.

Before it was officially postponed, CONMEBOL's team of doctors said there was no reason to suspend the second leg of the Copa Libertadores final because they couldn't confirm any of the injuries Boca players had suffered earlier on Saturday.

River fans hurled objects at Boca's bus as it traveled to the Monumental for the reverse fixture of the Copa Libertadores final, shattering several windows in the process. Police deployed tear gas in an attempt to disperse the crowd. The gas then seeped into the open bus and left Boca's players feeling physically unwell, according to the Guardian's Jonathan Wilson.

Boca midfielders Pablo Perez and Gonzalo Lamardo were treated and admitted to a nearby hospital following the attack. Perez had glass shards stuck in his eye, according to TNT Sports LA.

Argentine newspaper Clarin also reported, via Reuters, that six Boca players vomited in the dressing room.

But CONMEBOL's medical team downplayed the injuries as "superficial" and recommended the match go on.

"Players from the club Boca Juniors suffered superficial skin injuries on their arms and legs, face and body; equally two players said they had suffered eye injuries, which our medical team was not able to confirm," the statement read, as translated by AS. "Given this situation, we consider that from a medical point of view there is no reason to suspend the match."

Sunday's kick-off is now slated for 5 p.m. local time (3 p.m. ET).
