The Seattle Mariners have already made a pair of high-profile trades this offseason, and the team seems ready to do more dealing. There are a few players, however, who will be tougher for opposing clubs to land.

General manager Jerry Dipoto says that Mariners outfielder Mitch Haniger, closer Edwin Diaz, and starter Marco Gonzales are most likely staying put barring an extraordinary offer.

"We are going to stay open-minded to anything with a general ‘never say never,’" Dipoto told Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times. "With Marco, with Mitch, with Eddie, we would have to be blown away to move players like that."

Haniger, 27, is coming off an All-Star campaign after hitting .285/.366/.493 with 26 home runs and 93 RBIs. Diaz, 24, led the major leagues with 57 saves in 2018 alongside a 1.96 ERA and 0.78 WHIP. Gonzales, 26, also enjoyed a fruitful season, finishing with a 13-9 record and a 4.00 ERA over 29 starts.

Beyond those three, the rest of the roster could be available, including shortstop Jean Segura and right-hander Mike Leake, who were reportedly part of trade discussions with the San Diego Padres for Wil Myers.

Dipoto sent ace lefty James Paxton to the New York Yankees in exchange for top pitching prospect Justus Sheffield, right-hander Erik Swanson, and outfielder Dom Thompson-Williams. Prior to that, the Mariners dealt catcher Mike Zunino to the Tampa Bay Rays for Mallex Smith.

The team is evidently sticking to a strategy outlined earlier in the offseason that focuses on a "re-imagining" while looking toward the 2020 and 2021 seasons, and not a total rebuild.
