The Oakland Raiders released wide receiver Martavis Bryant, the team announced Saturday.

Bryant is in the process of appealing a drug suspension issued by the NFL, according to ESPN's Dan Graziano.

Oakland acquired Bryant in an April trade with the Pittsburgh Steelers in exchange for a third-round pick in the 2018 NFL Draft.

The move to release Bryant is just the latest in what has been a frantic day for the Raiders, who traded superstar edge rusher Khalil Mack to the Chicago Bears in a package highlighted by two first-round picks. The Raiders also reportedly acquired quarterback AJ McCarron from the Buffalo Bills in exchange for a fifth-round pick.

Bryant was suspended for the entire 2016 season due to a violation of the league's substance abuse policy.
