Evan Perlmutter, the longtime New York Knicks fan who put his allegiance up for sale on eBay, has a new NBA team to cheer for.

The 33-year-old listed his fanhood with a starting price of $1,973, symbolizing the last year the Knicks won an NBA championship. Whoever won the auction would then get to choose a new favorite team for Perlmutter.

The auction closed Friday afternoon with a winning bid of $3,500, but Perlmutter waited until Monday to unveil the team.

Perlmutter explained his decision to auction off his fandom in an interview with Yahoo Sports' Dan Devine last week.

"To be liberated is to be free ... I have battled (owner James) Dolan and the Knicks for too many decades of pain," he said. "The Knicks are like quicksand: the more hope you have, the harder you try, the worse it gets. To be liberated would be to be freed of the pain, and that's what we're here to do. This isn't about one draft pick, one year, one coach, one GM. This is about 20 years of fan hardship."
