Corey Bellemore broke his own world record at the 2018 Beer Mile World Classic in Vancouver, British Columbia on Saturday, only to have it erased due to a rule violation.

The Canadian finished the race in 4:24.44, smashing his record by nine seconds, but was disqualified for leaving 4.5 ounces of beer behind. Three other runners were also disqualified for similar violations.

England's Dale Clutterbuck was crowned the winner with a time of 4:50.7.

In a typical beer mile, competitors must drink four cans or bottles of beer and run four laps around a 400-meter track. The beers are consumed before each lap, and anyone who vomits during the race must complete one penalty lap.
